The storm that had broken so many trees was in the past (click here
to see - After the storm) and the sun was working very hard to get the snow melted,
disintegrated, evaporated... The roads and trails were clear, so we
decided that the best way to spend a Sunday morning would be a walk in
some beautiful place... And one of the most beautiful places we know is
the City Park ;) It is magnificent in spring with flowering trees,
beautiful in summer with its green leaves, stunning in fall with these leaves in yellow and red, a bit dull in winter with
faded colors and cold... but today it promised a pleasant walk and some
vibrant colors in a nice contrast with the white snow. And we weren't
disappointed at all... despite the snow, everything was still breathing
fall...
We walked slowly, enjoying the chilly morning air and the warm
Colorado sun. I think it's impossible to explain what it's like... I
guess it's that special Colorado feeling - that contrast between cold
and warm at the same time...
We enjoyed this walk, and actually, we had another reason to be
here. A bit of an unexpected reason, I think, because we were here to
look at the roses.
And literally a minute later we were there, and... the roses were
still blooming! They had survived the snowstorm, and although many of
them were wilted, most looked completely untouched by the adventures of
the day before...
So we were there, walking ankle-deep in snow, looking at the roses. Can you believe it? I still can't :)
Later we decided to continue and complete a circle around the big lake and walked towards it.
Flaming oak. What else can you call this tree?
The day was windless and walking along the water line we saw
everything twice - the bottom half was almost as clear as the top, but
just upside down...
Such a beautiful contrast between the colors of the flowers and the white snow
