About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Marble sky

The Castlewood Canyon is a stunning place to spend a few hours. And fall is definitely the best time to do it ;) All the trails in the park are easy (except the longest one, but who takes it, right?) and the weather is... um... the weather is actually challenging. On the flatlands it is often windy, which makes you think about more clothes to wear, but in the inner canyon it's windless and hot, and you immediately start peeling all the clothes you just put on... But... this is a small inconvenience, other than that this park is absolutely beautiful and popular... Especially in fall time... click here to see what you can find there, if you start from the less crowded side - Castlewood Canyon park again, but from another angle.
Today we started from the main parking lot and quickly figured out that today was special... special because of the sky that was looking absolutely amazing...

Clouds are not rare in Colorado. But there are days when the clouds are so beautiful and overwhelming that it is simply impossible to look at anything else, and today was one of those days...

So we hiked and barely looked under our feet, preferring to look up at the sky.

We definitely needed to look down too :) and, honestly, colorful leaves and sandstones kept catching our attention all the time...

Or... maybe distract us from looking up at the sky, where the clouds were creating some magic patterns...

The sky was like a cloth an artist uses to wipe his brushes. Maybe you can see something different in these random splashes of white too... What do you see? What does your imagination tell you about this sky?

The inner canyon is a bit less colorful than what you can see if you start from the west, but still bright and vibrant. It is really different from what you might see here if you do the same hike but in April, when everything looks colorless - Castlewood Canyon, Sunday hike in April.

Don't get me wrong, the lack of color can be also attractive (just look at this hike - Castlewood Canyon park. Still bare and colorless.) but bright colors definitely make it more pleasant and appealing. So we had no complaints spending a couple of hours here and really enjoyed this warm Sunday morning in late October...

A little less than 3 miles of easy hiking and we were back and ready to return home. The bright blue sky and red-and-yellow leaves somehow reminded us of another hike here. Maybe because these two have very little in common. The last time we were there happened in February, when it was not only windy, but also cold... no leaves or colors promised kinda dull time... but by shifting our attention to the little details, we found a completely different world to explore - the world of small details and frozen goods. Click here to look at it too - Castlewood Canyon - textures and shapes.... Maybe these hikes still have something in common - both times we found something new and unexpected :)

The pictures were taken on October 20, 2024.
