About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Angry birds ;)

Not exactly angry, maybe just crazy. Let's go back in time and look at some birds I met this Spring in City park. The most impressive (at least for me) were the cormorants. Big black birds flying like cruise missiles low over the water.

But even geese that occupy parks and lawns and seem annoying to people can sometimes make an impression ;)

Don't be fooled by what I said earlier about cormorants... Not only do they fly low, but they also fly high (and very fast, by the way).

And when they're not flying... they live in huge and noisy communities, gossiping about their neighbors all the time :)

I have no idea what happened to these geese, but it was a quarrel, some swearing, a chase and a lot of splashing... I guess I mistook geese for peaceful birds, but they are not...

This adorable mama-merganser was the main reason for me to come to this small pond and look for her.

When I saw this happy momma with her 10 chicks, I was so excited to see them follow their mom... but it didn't last long...

A week later there were fewer ducklings, and it was a really sad picture...

Pelicans are not rare guests in City Park, but it's always nice to see them... Especially if they have company and share the rock with the turtle :)

Cormorant on the way back to his family :)

Yeap, at first a big and happy family swam in the pond, but after a little over a week only two ducklings survived. Maybe mama merganser will have better luck next year...let's keep our fingers crossed.

The pictures were taken in April-June 2024.
