About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.

Small bird flies fast

I woke up in the morning and decided I needed to do something different. Not that different, but still. Probably go and check out some small birds ;) So I went to Central City to see if I could find some. And it didn't take long to spot one, resting on the fence and waiting for the sun to warm everything up...

I had no doubt that I could find some hummingbirds here. They are always around all summer and you can be seen there on any warm day. That day they were in the air rocketing up and plunging down. I don't think I've ever seen something like that, but it was interesting to watch, so I stayed there for a while, trying to capture these small birds with my camera.

As I mentioned above, I had no doubts the hummingbirds would be there, my question was whether I could take some pictures of them. I knew from my previous experience that they like to feedi on the nectar that wild currant produces, but I wasn't sure the currants were in bloom. But it turned out that this is not so. So I wandered around trying to see if any of the birds liked any of the bushes... And I found one large currant bush that attracted hummingbirds and was able to take a portrait of one of them ;)

The hummingbird was coming and going, but I had enough time, so I stayed and waited for it to return.

As a reward, the bird allowed me to stay close and take some pictures.

But I knew from last year that the bird wouldn't stay in one place for long, and I was not surprised when after a minute or two it simply flew away. No regrets... I had a few good photos and also I figured out that I need to return in a week or two. The currants are about to bloom, which means the hummingbirds will be there feeding on the nectar, giving me the opportunity to get closer and snatch a picture or two. I guess I have a plan then ;)

The pictures were taken on June 21, 2024.
