...and I'm not talking about the Denver Botanic Garden ;) This
Sunday we checked out another (that I like at least as much as
the Botanic Garden) - Hudson Gardens. Less known, less sophisticated and
plant-rich, but still a pleasant place to stroll around.
And they even have a small model of the town surrounding the garden ;)
Small houses and big flowers. I like it!
I have no idea if this is a real "model" of the old town or just a representation of any old
mining town
in Colorado. But it doesn't matter... it's a nice touch and fun for the kids :)
And the train is running! It wasn't moving when we were there, but it works and adds some feeling to the mini-town.
The flowers there are amazing... It's a garden after all ;)
Unfortunately, most of the garden was closed for some renovation work, but they promise to open by mid June (if not earlier), which means we saw less flowers than we expected :(
If you cross the garden, you find yourself on the bank of South Platte River...
...and there are big trees and cute bear cubs climbing them ;)
What really made my day were a couple of spots where Lilies of the
valley covered the ground. The little white flowers are so delicate...
and the scent is so powerful... Honestly, I'd stay there all day
inhaling the fragrant air and looking at those white bells :)
We saw a flying heron and many blackbirds... It was nice...
Speaking of animals. The bears were made from bronze, but the rabbits were real ;)
And this one turned his head towards me and asked with his eyes:
"What do you want? Let me have my lunch and don't enter my personal
space!" So I had to retreat :)
We made a circle and returned to the parking lot with the idea of returning back when they closed trails open... Maybe in a month...
The pictures were taken on May 19, 2024.
