Breckenridge Budweiser Snow Sculptures Festival is an absolutely amazing event. No matter how many times we visit it, each time we are amazed by the huge and beautiful sculptures carved from monstrous cubes of snow... But the visit always begins with a walk through the streets and admiring the mountain peaks just above the town...
The bright and sparkling Christmas decorations are still in place and hard to miss ;)
It usually only takes a few minutes to get to the place where all
the magic of the world transforms shapeless lumps of snow into intricate
and stunning sculptures..
This one is An Inuit Moral Tale created by the Canada/Yukon team. It was truly impressive!
Shooting Star by Germans was even more surprising. Look at it and
tell me if you believe it is made of snow... I couldn't believe my
eyes! The straight and thin columns, flat surfaces and perfect finish
made me think they carved it out of marble ;)
I'd say this was one of the most amazing sculptures that year. But,
to be fair, the Germans are always like this - from such a material as
fresh (even pressed) snow, they can make something simple and at the
same time almost impossible...
A team from Wales, Great Britain made The Seven Deadly Sins and did it perfectly :)
Handsome, dexterous, frightening and attractive at the same time. Great job Great Britain!
Raven Myth from Alaskans. Such beauty! Well detailed and
beautifully designed. We spent some time looking at and pointing out
small details...
Some teams also left models nearby so that spectators could see them and compare them to the final sculpture...
This is local one. Breckenridge, Colorado with 8 seconds of Glory. And... I guess words are not needed to describe this one :)
The Estonian team carved this Koit and... it is so peaceful, simple and clear. And... I really like the fresh snow, which dusted the surface and added to the impression.
Banyista Nua (Homage to Picasso)... It is definitely Picasso's art that inspired the Spanish team to create this incredible tribute...
Mongolian Warriors from the Mongolian team. Actually this team has
been impressing us for many years. Mongolian artists create exquisite
sculptures - big, sophisticated and always with a good story. This one
was no exception!
Love, Balance, and Community from Singapore... nice job!
Happy Winter from the Chinese team. And don't tell me everything that comes from China either chip or simple... Art is not! ;)
By the way, here is a short video we took there trying to capture the festival spirit...
We walked around a couple of times before deciding to call it a day
and leave. But we couldn't... a Viking blocked our way out and demanded
a vote ;) How could anyone not give their voice for what they like?
And... Budweiser horses always meet you at the entrance and see you off ;)
If you're going to see the sculptures, reserve a couple of hours to walk the streets of
Breckenridge
and to enjoy the views...
That wasn't our first or only visit to the festival. And every time was different and beautiful in its own way... See here -Snowflake plus snowflake... finally we can make a snow sculpture, can't we?

And if you are interesting to see the sculptures in a different light (I mean at night) - click here - The night in Breckenridge. Budweiser Snow Sculpture Festival 2019.
We liked the night experience so much, we returned next year to see it again - Breckenridge Snow Sculptures Festival 2020.
And... don't forget to spend some time in the night town too - Brek at night.
But still... daytime festival is very attractive event - Breckenridge Budweiser Snow Sculpture Festival 2017.
And we mostly attended it in the morning - Breckenridge, Budweiser Snow Sculpture Festival 2018.
Pictures were taken on January 27, 2013.
