About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Sunset in the Black Canyon of Gunnison. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 4

You will surely ask why we were in such a hurry to leave this sweet, cool and pleasant place (click here to see what I mean - Pine Creek Trail. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 3). And the answer may be unexpected;). Actually we wanted to see the canyon. That's right, we came out of the canyon to see the canyon, but let's start it again...

The Black Canyon of Gunnison is a place we love dearly and are always ready to see. We've been to this place several times already. We once spent a whole day exploring but mostly we drove to and fro stopping at the viewpoints and just looking down the canyon...

We went there in the morning and enjoyed the afternoon here too. But we were always on our way to somewhere else and we were never there at sunset.

This time we had an opportunity and we couldn't miss it. Especially since we've booked a hotel in Montrose, which is just a 30 minutes from Sunset Point, the best place in the park to enjoy the moment when the sun goes down the horizon...

So... we stopped at the visitor center and first had our dinner then we took a look at beautiful old rocks... Black rocks ;)

Next we drove all the way to Sunset Point, stopping here and there and trying to capture these spectacular views. It was an absolutely amazing experience and we enjoyed every second of it. It was also a very dissimilar experience and the Black Canyon looked different than what we were used to seeing on our previous visits. This place is hard to photograph even in good light, but it was an absolute nightmare taking pictures in such low light, and most of the canyon remained in deep and dark shadows (which was the real reason for calling it Black Canyon). But it didn't matter, because the eye could capture all of the beauty of the place...

And... I must admit, the sunset in the Black Canyon of Gunnison was magnificent and unimaginably beautiful. It was worth all the driving and staying late to wait for it. We remained until the sun disappeared and finally went to our hotel, full of impressions of the day and eager for the next adventure ;)

To be continued...

Pictures were taken on July 04, 2019.
