About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Kebler Pass Road. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 9

We really enjoyed hiking the Snodgrass trail, but wanted to see more of the wildflowers, so we soon turned back and returned to the car. But let's skip our next destination for now, jump ahead and see something different we experienced that day. We had to decide how to get to the hotel and we had tons of options...

We actually had just two options, but they each had two more options to choose from. And... as you can guess, we've taken the less obvious one. The most adventurous one... and the slowest one. Yeah, all the bad options merged into one road ;)

County Rd 12 via Kebler Pass. It looks shorter, but it is a dirt road, approximately 40 miles long, windy and takes about 2 hours to drive. Unpaved (mostly), but in very good condition (dust does not count), constantly dangles and goes up and down, up and down ... Exactly what we like :)

Here is the path on Google Maps if you are interested - Kebler Pass Road from Crested Butte.

But... it is a beautiful road! By all means! Aspens running down the slopes, mountains here and there, without a doubt, this is a great place to enjoy the Fall colors, and we plan to return here one day in September.

Because of the dust and our plans for that day, we didn't stop much, so most of the pictures were taken on a dash camera, but I hope they convey the beauty of this mountain path, don't they?

Once we crossed the summit and were driving down the road, the fantastic machinery crossed the road twice... Something long and strange was following the road and finally crossing it. Later I realized that it was a coal transporter! This is a coal mine nearby and they transport coal from the mine for miles, finally crossing the highway and loading cars that move under the load tower. Isn't it amazing?

To be continued...

Pictures were taken on July 05, 2019.
