Crested Butte is the wildflower capital of the USA. You can hear it
here and there, so that day we wanted to make sure it was true and
drove from Gunnison to see it with our own eyes (click here to see - Town of Gunnison. Independence Day 2019 trip, part 7
)...
And... I have to say... it is true. The town is located between the
mountain ranges, and in July the slopes around it are covered with
wildflowers... The peak of blooming usually occurs in mid-July, but on
the 4th of July we found plenty of blossoms there too.
There are hundreds of trails you can choose from, or you can hike
within the city limits and still see plenty of vibrant colors there. We
chose the Snodgrass Trail... for no particular reason, actually...
And the hike didn't disappoint at all... Honestly, I have never
seen so many flowers in one place! It was an absolutely magical
experience and we enjoyed every second of it!
To be continued...
