About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Big and small

The last time I shared images of Denver it showcased numerous skyscrapers dominating the city skyline. Look here for yourself - Skyscrapers or Denver we don't always like
However, not all of downtown Denver is soaring towards the heavens. There exists a variety of small buildings, with many not exceeding three stories.  For this post, let's take a stroll along the streets of downtown starting at the intersection of Welton and 20th St. This location is just a short walk away from the city center and provides a unique experience in contrast to the skyscraper-dense downtown.

The area is characterized by cozy one and two-story buildings with minimal traffic. It's only when you turn a corner and walk a bit further that you'll start to see the skyscrapers looming over you.

A few minutes of walk and one particular building caught my eye for being tall and dark in contrast to its neighbor - a beautiful old church that appears small and light.

This stark contrast is a common feature walking through the city. Looking up at the tall and forbidding buildings can make you feel small and insignificant, but a step or two to the side and there is a sense of comfort in the quieter and more intimate streetscape.

As you continue to explore, you'll come across a glass-covered street where the Opera House, Theatre, and Performing Art Center are located.

From the top of the outside staircase, you can take in a unique perspective of the surrounding areas.

On your way back, the streets become less crowded, and at times even deserted, creating an unusual and welcome sense of peace unknown in the busy downtown area. Keep your eyes peeled, and you may even stumble upon one of the vintage VW Peacemakers - a popular car model amongst hippies that still runs to this day.
