About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.

Short hike in Staunton Park... Fall colors!

Monday is a good day to go for a hike. The trails are not crowded and you can have them all for yourself. I know Monday is also the day when most of the people are working and have no time to go hiking. That is the biggest reason why I am usually not going out on Mondays too ;( But sometimes I just have to go somewhere and not to be surrounded by too many people... just cannot resist and those are the best Mondays ever! ;)

This Monday I had chosen Staunton Park for my short and quick hike. Actually I never heard about this park and discovered it only the day before. I thought the Davis Ponds trail would be the best for a couple hours hike and I was right.

Cannot say much about the trail - surroundings are nice, but nothing outstanding. Except the foliage! Yes, it is October and aspens are changing colors and everything looks just amazing. Bright and vibrant yellow leaves with a dash of orange are just what we need to have our spirits up ;)

Later I discovered that there are some more trails in the park and they can be even more interesting. So I save them for the next time when I am in the area. Davis Ponds is a super easy one (and quite popular even on Mondays, by the way).

There are some mountain peaks and ridges visible from the trail but if you want to see them better, you need to choose a different one, not around the ponds. Later we drove up to the Lazy V parking lot to find out the mountains are closer there and some trails are going up and around. Definitely need to plan to hike some of them one day.

But today we had a really easy hike - just shy of three miles and very flat. A bit over two hours walking slowly and having lunch looking at the ponds and mountains. This is exactly what one needs on an easy and relaxed Monday...

  1. Seems like a fine place. We’ve heard good things about it from other people, too.
