About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.

Mexico, vacation... Sandos Playacar resort, part 11

To read previous part click here - Mexico, vacation... Tulum, part 10

We enjoyed walking around Tulum ruins. That was nice and pleasant. But... just one small "but" spoiled that day... it was a bit toasty. And I guess now I understand the feeling of the piece of steak being grilled on the iron pan. No, that wasn't that bad, actually, when we were walking along the coast line where a light breeze made it really pleasant... but once we turned around and strolled along the "second" line of ruins we weren't pleased anymore. We were slowly roasted under the burning sun... So we walked there quickly and... escaped. I mean literally jumped into the car and drove back to Playa del Carmen.

While driving, we were talking and quickly agreed these ruins were real miracles. So much work was put in by the people who didn't know the wheel or iron yet. While we were discussing that we enjoyed another miracle, today's miracle ;). After just 10 minutes in the car the freezing cold air generated by AC cooled the interior down and made us feel much-much better. I would say almost perfect. So we decided there is still some life in old dogs yet and we turned from the beaten path to visit some relatives. Oh... I know this is confusing. That wasn't our relatives actually, but our resort's :) Sandos resort is a part of a big chain, united three resorts in Mexico and some more in Spain. And two of the Mexican resorts are located really close to each other. One (Sandos Caracol) is on north-east of Playa del Carmen, the other (Sandos Playacar) - on south-west. So we wanted to see the south-west sister and, probably, compare it with our resort.

Yeah... Sandos Playcar is definitely the most luxurious one, for sure. But it comes with the price. And I am not talking about the higher "price" one has to pay to stay here, this is pretty obvious. But this "better" place is also much more crowded and busy... and we didn't feel we fit there. Have no idea why, but we found our Sandos Caracol one is more relaxing, more loose and definitely more human friendly. So... we grabbed a cup of coffee, had some snacks at the beach bar, walked barefoot on the beach and just returned to our car and headed back home, I mean to Sandos Caracol resort :)

But I need to admit, the beaches are much better at Playacar place. The sand is thinner, whiter, the sea bed is not as rocky and everything is taken care of... That was a bummer it was so windy that day and the waves were too big, so we didn't have a chance to swim there... Next time... next time...

By the way, we left this place, but you shouldn't leave that quickly... Follow the link below and drop the "person" somewhere on the trail (Street View is working there!) and enjoy exploring Sandos Playacar resort without even leaving your armchair... Isn't it amazing? Now one can travel and enjoy new places without leaving their living room. Isn't it a miracle? When they are going to find a way to bring the heat and salty air to your home, that will be the end of the tourist industry... No one will need to really go anywhere to see the new places. But I hope I won't be here when this finally happens. I guess I better go the old fashion way - traveling and touching  everything to feel it's real, not virtual...

Pictures were taken in March 2018.
