The days are still hot, but not as toasty as they were in August... The nights are much cooler now. But there are only a few flowers still blooming and grass areas don't look as bright as they were before. Let's look back and enjoy the colors and shapes we admired during Summer days, should we?
Sunflower... Big, bright yellow and very attractive to bees and wasps. It is almost impossible to pass by without looking at it.
I passed this shrub so many times
and always
was surprised with its seeds that attached to a long, fuzzy, white plume
up to 4 inches long. Most of them create almost perfect spirals.
Interesting plant this Birchleaf Mountain Mahogany. I never thought about
something like that...
Red Columbine...I personally prefer blue or white, but reds are looking nice too.
