About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.

Ocean trip to the north coast of Kauai. Hawaii, part 15

To read previous part Finally, Waimea Canyon. Hawaii, part 14

The trip to Waimea Canyon was really great. But we had even better plans for the afternoon. Do you remember the only road runs around the island. And I hope you remember that it is not a loop and part of the cost is inaccessible by car. The north part. There are no roads there and you can reach it only by feet or from the water. And, honestly, everyone has to take a boat trip to see the island from the outside. The north coast is absolutely an amazing place to see and that was our plan this afternoon...

A small catamaran left the harbor and we headed from the west end to the north. The ocean around Kauai looks amazing at any time, but this day it was even better. Deep blue color and clearness was unbelievable. And impossible to describe. Let's try the pictures.

As you remember, there are a lot of the waterfalls everywhere on the island. And just a couple hundred years ago there were even more of them. But... once people started to grow the sugar canes here, they needed a lot of water. More than they can have naturally. So they started to redirect some water flows to feed the plantations and many waterfalls dried out. Can you imagine that? The waterfalls were there for millions of years and disappeared once the people came to the island and transformed it from paradise to the farm land.... So now most of the waterfalls on the north side of the island do not exist anymore and only shadows remind you about their glory...

One of the biggest attractions of the boat trip is whale watching. And we were lucky this day as we met multiple groups of the whales and enjoyed their company...

It was a really huge waterfall and this is really sad we cannot see it anymore.

The ridges are running down and end up in the ocean. They somehow remind me of animal paws. Big, soft and strong paws...

But some of the waterfalls survived and are still running today. Maybe the others recover too one day? What do you think?

Narrow ridges covered by greens remind me of fins. I've never seen something like this before...

Believe it or not, but this is the same valley we've seen this morning, but from the high point. Here is the spot where Waimea Canyon meets the ocean.

Whales and dolphins accompanied us during this trip and we were glad they kept us a company.

The boat trip was really something, but finally our boat made 180 degrees turn and headed back to the harbor. At the same time the sun was rolling down and sinked into the ocean...

Perfect evening of the perfect day...

Pictures were taken on April 26, 2013.
