Hello, rain! Hawaii, part 09

The previous day was foggy and a bit rainy. In fact this is quite common for Kauai. Rain, I mean. Generally it is raining every day. A few times every day. But mostly the rains are short, light and warm. So they bring no problems, a few minutes of rain and the sun dries everything in just a minute. And as I said you can pick the location with lowest probability of you getting wet. But sometimes (especially in Spring) the day just stays opposite. I mean it is mostly raining, with the sun taking over from time to time. So that was a day like this during our stay. I cannot really complain, because the rain wasn't strong (more like a shower), warm and the sun still was able to come through the clouds and make some difference.

 

So it was really raining in the morning, so we stopped in Lihue and visited the museum. Later the weather became a bit better and we moved to the south-east to enjoy cloudy, but still beautiful day.

All we needed was to drive while it was raining and jump off the car as soon as the rain slowed down. At one of our stops we looked at the fountain. Natural fountain. How does it work? Quite simple. The waves were crashing into the lava for millions of years and finally carved a few holes in the monolith. So now the strong wave is pushing water into this hole and throws it up. It doesn't happen with every wave and sometimes it takes hours to catch the perfect fountains. With the new rain coming we didn't have enough time to wait for the perfect one, but we still had some fun looking at the fountain.

Later we stopped at the Plantation Garden we visited the day before and enjoyed looking at rows of coconut trees.
