About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Lakes and Waterfalls - part 7 of Independence Day trip 2015

Lake City Parade - part 6 of Independence Day trip 2015

We enjoyed the parade and left Lake City soon after people cleared Main Street. We had a good time there but we had some more plans to see places this day. We followed highway 149, which runs up to the summits and down to the valleys. There are a couple of pearls the traveler can find hidden just out of the main road. One of these treasures is Lake San Cristobal, the second largest natural lake in the state of Colorado.

Some info from the WiKi:
Located in the San Juan Mountains at an elevation of 9,003 feet (2,744 m), the freshwater lake is 2.1 miles (3.4 km) long, up to 89 feet (27 m) deep, and holds about 11,000 acre feet (14,000,000 m3) of water. The town of Lake City, a few miles to the north, is named after Lake San Cristobal. The name San Cristóbal means Saint Christopher in the Spanish language.

We made a detour and drove around this amazing lake and continued our trip. Just stopped for a second a couple thousand feet above the lake where the viewpoint offered an astonishing view to the Lake San Cristobal from the bird's eye. We were even more impressed, how big and nice this lake was.

Later we made a few more stops - to see two nice waterfalls - North and South Clear Creek Falls where we enjoyed seeing how tons of water fell down the stream. It looks really impressive because the Clear Creek in looks small at this place - tiny small creek winging between hills.

A few miles later we stopped to have some snacks next to another lake. That was a perfect spot for short recess - we were surrounded by bright green, blue, purple, white colors... And everything looked unbelievable, vivid and bright... We felt like at this moment we traveled to the fairy tale...
