About this blog:
We love traveling. We always capture tons of pictures from wherever we've been and we like sharing our traveling experiences with our friends. So, this is how this blog began - as short stories with pictures in an attempt to share where we've been and what we've seen. Even not stories , but just notes. Nothing serious and big. Mostly I'm writing these stories on a rush and sometimes even don't have time to re-read them. So, I apologize in advance for possible typos here and there. There can be some factual errors or inaccuracies and they even might be corrected one day. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find something that needs to be fixed and don't expect these notes to be a perfect novels ;) The stories in this blog are not in chronological order, but I will try to remember to put the date of the trip. So... welcome to this blog and, hopefully, you will find something interesting and have the same feeling we had when we were there. Let's go...
And... by the way... all pictures and texts in this blog are protected by International and USA Copyright laws, so if you'd like to repost or use something on your page - contact me first.
Using anything published here without permission is violation of the law and... it isn't really nice...

Creede - part 10 of Independence Day trip 2015

To read previous part:
Bachelor Loop Creede - part 9 of Independence Day trip 2015

At one point at the end of Bachelor Loop you can see the town of Creede from the bird's eye. And you see small, colorful and nice looking town.

It looks like a doll town when you are looking at it from the top of the hills...

Creede is a small town hidden in the mountains. It looks like the rock walls pinch the town and keep it inside, I don't remember if I've seen anything like this in different places.

If you look from the Underground Mining Museum (it's a point where Bachelor Loop begins) to the Main Street you can find the street is an extension of the canyon. The mountain walls blend into the buildings. And it creates a very unusual feeling and once we had a walk along this street, we loved the town even more.

Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to enjoy the town, we really needed to hit the road and move to Cortez, where we had a hotel booked. And we had another adventure during this drive, because once we left Creede, the pouring rain began and accompanied us all the way down to Durango. Once we passed Durango, the rain slowed down and the pitch dark (as we thought) sky appeared to be just dark blue and that wasn't really night yet ;)

We were on our way to Cortez and already saw the city lights, when we were surprised with some glow above the town. It took a few minutes to understand that we were looking to fireworks combined with lighting bolts. So we entered Cortez surrounded with fireworks from all sides. That was amazing and we even watched the show for a few minutes before we checked in the hotel. We were tired, but happy as we had a long day filled with so many impressions.

We started from Gunnison and stopped to see Blue Mesa Reservoir. We spent some time in Lake City and enjoyed watching the Independence Day Parade there. We've been to Lake San Cristobal and stopped to see a couple of waterfalls. We visited the Underground Mining Museum in Creede and drove up and down on the Bachelor Loop. We walked along the streets of Creede and made all the way to Cortez through the rain and storm. And we just needed some sleep...

Pictures were taken on July 04, 2015.
